Note – Currently, Transact does not support Oracle server having pluggable databases through the installer. Below are the workarounds for Oracle Container and Pluggable DBS

  1. While installing Oracle 12 c, please don’t select to “Create as Container database, create a simple installation instead.
  2. If Pluggable DB’s are already setup, all PDB’s need to be set to read only before running installer/creating the user by below commands:
    i. To set read only(by default only for PDBORCL)
    show pdbs;
    alter pluggable database <PDBORCL> close;
    alter pluggable database <PDBORCL> open read only;
    After running installer, revert all pdb’s to read write
    show pdbs;
    alter pluggable database <PDBORCL> close;
    alter pluggable database <PDBORCL> open read write;

16. You can choose to install a new Oracle database schema or use an existing schema from the Local/Remote Oracle Server Configuration Information screen. By default, Use existing oracle schema is selected.

17. Select Create new oracle schema and click Next on the Local/Remote Oracle Server Configuration Information screen to create a new schema.

The Local/Remote Oracle Server Configuration screen displays.

The username and password for an existing user who has sufficient privileges to create tablespaces and new oracle schema should be specified here

Note: In server.xml, provided Oracle DB passwords are saved with double quotes (e.g. dataSource.password=”"Passw0rd"”). This syntax is used specifically for Oracle to ensure problem-free DB connection.
19. Enter the appropriate information in the text fields and click Next. After database configuration or installation following screen will be displayed to user:

Fill all the information and then click on ‘Next’ button.

20. After Ephesoft Registration Information following screen will be displayed to user:

21. Select radio button 1 if user is not creating multi-server environment or does not has existing shared folder. Selecting this radio button will also install shared folder along with application setup.

22. Select radio button 2 if user is creating multi-server environment or user has existing shared folder. Selecting this radio button will not install shared folder. In this case Shared folder path is the path of parent directory of Shared Folders directory. For example if existing Shared Folders directory is inside a folder named as share and this folder is shared on system named EPHESOFT then shared folder path will be \\EPHESOFT\share not \\EPHESOFT\share\SharedFolders .
– Do not set nodes to reference mapped drives of network drives (ie a Z drive mapped to \\nas\share)
– Do not set nodes to reference hidden shares (ie \\nas\share$)
– In a clustered environment, you should not set a sharedfolder to be any of the nodes in the ephesoft cluster

23. After completing all these steps below screenshot will be displayed to user:

Click on install button and installer will do rest of the work.

By default ‘Finish’ button on the above screen will be disabled. ‘Finish’ button will be enabled when user clicks on checkbox. So first click on checkbox and then on ‘Finish’ button.

24. After clicking ‘Finish’ button of previous screen, following screen will be displayed to user:

Click on ‘Yes’ button to restart the system.

26. After the license has been installed, you can start Ephesoft by service or as an application.

To start Ephesoft by Service, open Services and start Ephesoft Transact.
