The Ephesoft Webscanner allows for documents to be scanned into an operator’s workstation and sent seamlessly to the Processing server. There are more than one option for this functionality. If the Client Side Generation is set to false, the generated images are only held in the browser’s cache. This increases security on the operator’s workstation by limiting the number of files
Whenever the user opens the Web Scanner URL on the browser, Java applet gets loaded on the browser that can communicate with server applications that run on the same host as the applet. This communication does not require any special setup on the server.
When the user starts scanning the documents with scanner attached to the user’s machine, all the scanned documents are cached inside the browser’s cache.
The scanned images are then converted into the required format: TIFF and JPGs (for thumbnails and main image). The TIFF conversion always takes place at the server side while the JPG coversion takes place at client side or server side, depending on the value of below property present in the “application.properties” file in the META-INF

(By default, uploading will be done on client-side.)
As soon as the user clicks the “FINISH” button on the Web Scanner UI, the batch gets submitted for further processing.
