If you are experiencing licensing errors on Windows 7, 10, 2008R2 or 2012R2 server, please open a command prompt and type in ‘ping localhost’.

If you get a return of ::1, please follow the following steps if you are not using IPv6 for your networking on the server.

1. Download this microsoft fix.

2. Apply fix #50409 (Disable IPv6) and restart the computer.

3. Check the host file at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc to make sure that the entry for ::1 localhost is commented out with a preceding # character. (example: # ::1 localhost)

Alternatively, you can go to the Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center, and select your connection to view Status details.

In the popup window, click Properties. In the Properties window, disable Internet Protocol Version 6 and click OK.
